Computer Network is a set of two or more computers connected together with the purpose of exchange resources.
Network is a process of interconnecting thinks like Cell phone, Computers and even People.
While, on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus exchange information between people.
On Computer Network we exchange data between computers.
I know it can be a little bit confusing because people use twitter trough a computer to exchange information.
Just keep reading if you want to understand what I mean.
Data we can Share with Computer Network
With Computer Network we can share resources like:
- Videos and so on.
Types of Computer Network
There three very common types of network.
- LAN – Local Area Network
- MAN – Metropolitan Area Network
- WAN – Wide Area Network
Each, defines the geographical area that can be covered.
Local Area Network
As the name says Local, you can find these types of network on your School or SOHO (Small offices, Home Offices) networks.
Metropolitan Area Network
A MAN network is like a Computer Network that interconnects LAN Networks.
For example: You can interconnect Lan computers network from 2 different cities.
Wide Area Network
A WAN network is a Computer Network that interconnects cities, countries and the whole world.
For example: The internet is the world’s largest WAN.

There are several network devices in the industry of Network.
Bellow you have some commonly used devices.
- Access Points
- Network Interface Cards
I said commonly because there are so many Network Devices around, even the device you are using in this exact moment is a network device.
Yes, your laptop, desktop or even your cell phone is a network device.
The Language of Computer Network
As you know Computers are smart and intelligent, unfortunately that’s why they are killing so many jobs.
Network protocols, compose a set of languages used by computer devices to establish communication between them.
The TCP/IP is the most commonly found on LAN’s, MAN’s and WAN’s networks.
TCP means – Transmission Control Protocol.
You find TCP on the Transport Layer of the OSI Model and and it is responsible to carry the packets from the source to the destination with reliability.
IP means – Internet Protocol.
While you find TCP on the Transport Layer the IP is in the Internet Layer of the OSI Model and it is responsible to identify Network Devices.
